We Travel Through Norway, A True Paradise

We travel through Norway, a true paradise

For those who like cold and snow, Norway awaits you with open arms with hundreds of activities and attractions. And those who do not prefer low temperatures … too. This country crossed by fjords, full of forest legends and dreamlike landscapes is truly a paradise. In this article we tell you which are the Norwegian safety pins.

Norway , between lakes, northern lights and wooden houses

Until you reach the Nordic lands, you will not be able to understand the reason why all those who visit them are stunned waiting to return. It does not matter how cold, snowy or the few hours of sunshine in the winter. Its amazing landscapes invite us to glimpse them until they cannot be erased from the retinas, the mind and the heart.

Norway in all its splendor gives us beauty at every step. Some of the sites that you cannot miss in this country are:

1. Stavanger

Do you like trips full of adrenaline and vertigo? Then Stavanger is the one for you. Climb up to “the pulpit” at the top of Preikestolen, a rock platform that overlooks a fjord and is not suitable for those who fear heights. You will feel like the king of the world on the edge of that 600 meter precipice! “The fjord of light” (according to its meaning) shines brightest when it is sunny and you have to be there at that moment.

But don’t overlook the city of Stavanger. The old quarter has 150 wooden houses built between the 18th and 19th centuries, with gabled roofs painted white. On the dock you can see the buildings that were used to store fish and that today are shops, restaurants and nightclubs.

2. Bergen

It is the rainiest city in all of Europe but that will not matter to you at all when you first arrive (because it will not be the last). It is a historical city par excellence in Norway and it is worth visiting, even if the umbrella is your intimate companion on your stay. The almost 70 colorful houses built in the 15th century in the harbor district are the typical postcard of Bergen.

On your walk, do not forget to climb the Rosenkratz tower, from which you can enjoy beautiful views of the city, and visit the fish market (Fisketorget), where they say that the best salmon in the world is sold.

3. Lofoten Islands

They are located in the middle of the Arctic Circle,  but instead of feeling in the center of nowhere we will be dazzled by absolutely incredible landscapes.

Snow-capped peaks, fjords, lakes and fishing villages with their colorful little houses (don’t miss Svolvaer and Leknes) converge here. Some islands well connected to the mainland of Norway, they can be reached by plane, although a better option is to do it by boat.

4. North Cape

Nordkapp in local language is the northernmost point of Europe. Look for it on the map at latitude 71 ° 10’21 and you will realize what we are telling you. The Barents Sea will witness that you have been there, where it ends (or where everything begins depending on your point of view).

During the winter there are many possibilities to observe the wonderful phenomenon of the Northern Lights. .. it is worth every degree below zero because in summer the sky is illuminated 24 hours (there is no night) and this spectacle is not possible.

In North Cape there is an observatory 300 meters above the Barentshavet waters to admire the curved horizon, an experience that you can never forget.

Of course you cannot say that you have been to Norway if you did not sail between fjords. The country’s rugged coastline is full of valleys, glaciers, and mountains that won’t let you even blink.

The most important is Sognefjord (fjord of Dreams) and to get there you start from Bergen. Another must-see is Lysefjord … but it is impossible to decide on just one … you’ll see!
