When was the last time you were in a park? Perhaps many months have passed! But, unlike what happens in everyday life, when we are traveling we usually visit them as one more tourist attraction of the chosen destination. We are going to tell you which are the parks you should not miss at some point in your life:

1. Central Park, New York

Located in the district of Manhattan, it has a rectangular shape and large dimensions. It is more extensive than Monaco and the Vatican combined ! It is visited by about 25 million people a year and, in addition, it is very famous for having appeared in hundreds of films.

It was designed by Calvert Vaux and Frederick Law Olmsted and offers man-made lakes, areas for sports activities and two ice skating rinks.  In addition, it is a perfect place to watch birds.

2. Hyde Park, London

It is one of the largest parks in the country and one of those considered “real”. It is divided in two by the Serpentine Lake. It has an area of ​​1.4 km² and is open from 5 in the morning until midnight.

The Crystal Palace (one of its attractions) was designed in 1851 for the Great Exhibition that took place in London. The grand entrance to Hyde Park was built earlier, in 1824. And in 1994 a rose garden was added, a corner highly sought after by all visitors.

As a curiosity, we will tell you that there have been many protests throughout history,  for example those of the Reform League, the Anti-War Coalition and the Suffragettes.

3. Vondelpark, Amsterdam

This Dutch public park covers 47 hectares and is located to the west of the city. It was opened in 1865 (at that time it was called “Nieuwe Park”). Its name comes from the writer Joost Van Den Vondel. We can enjoy an open-air theater, hospitality and a playground.

4. Stanley Park, Vancouver

It is more than 400 hectares in size and is the largest in all of Canada (and is on the list of the giants of North America). Its name comes from Governor Frederick Arthur Stanley.

A coniferous forest with about half a million trees, 200 kilometers of trails, two lakes and a lagoon are some of its most important attractions. Other places not to be missed are the promenade, the totem pole area and the marina.

5. Ueno Park, Tokyo

It is located in the Taito-Ku neighborhood, on the site of the former Kan’eijii temple, used to guard Edo Castle and destroyed during the Boshin War. The park was created by Emperor Taisho in 1924  and in its surroundings you can enjoy the Tokyo National, Japan Science and National Western Art Museums, the Toshogu and Benzaiten chapels and a concert hall.

6. Englishcher Garten, Munich

Although its name indicates otherwise, this park is located in German lands, on the banks of the Isar River, in Munich. It is one of the largest urban parks in the world.  It has more than 400 hectares of extension, about 80 kilometers of roads and it is crossed by an artificial channel perfect for practicing sports.

A park designed on the initiative of Prince Charles Theodore of Bavaria in 1789 and later expanded by local landscapers. Its name is due to the fact that the English gardens served as an example for its construction.

7. Parque Chapultepec, Mexico City

The Chaputepelc forest is located in the district of Miguel Hidalgo and has an area of ​​almost 700 hectares. It is divided into three parts and houses sites of great Mexican tourist and cultural value, such as the National Museum of Anthropology. In addition, it offers sports spaces, fountains and artificial lakes.
