What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear about the Netherlands? The tulips! Of course, this characteristic flower of the country conquers the hearts of many travelers. Although there are fields full of them, they are far from the city and not everyone has the possibility to visit them.

For those who cannot get there, there is the flower market, a place where the tulip is the main protagonist, and you will see them in colors that you did not even know existed.

Another undisputed representative of the Netherlands is undoubtedly Van Gogh, the great painter whose more than 600 works are exhibited in the museum that bears his name. The Grote Mark, the Main Square, is the heart of Bruges and is where the routes through the historic center begin and end. As expected, the buildings that make it up embellish the place with their medieval facades. Highlights include the Belfort bell tower or the statue to Jan Breydel and Pierter de Koninck.

This is undoubtedly the most photographed place in Bruges, as one of the most important canals in the city, the Dijver, runs through it. We recommend that you visit it twice, once during the day and once at night, because its view is totally different.

The medieval buildings on its bank have impressive facades, these do make you feel like you’re in a fairy tale!

In this square you will find some of the best known historical buildings in the city and, of course, all with that medieval air that characterizes Bruges. Here you will see the  Palace of Justice, the Town Hall or the Basilica of the Holy Blood. It is another place that you should visit day and night, when the dim lights transform it.

Church of Our Lady of Bruges

This Gothic-style building is spectacular, but inside it houses a jewel: the Madonna by Michelangelo. Sculpted in marble and in perfect condition, it is a tourist attraction that you cannot miss.
