This beautiful and picturesque town is located in the heart of the Sierra de Tramontana, above the Sóller valley. For many this is one of the most beautiful towns in Spain. History of Fornalutx

Fornalutx has more than more than a thousand years of history, as it was an Arab farm. Later, when it was reconquered by Catalonia, it took on the form that we know it today.

Although it has grown over the years and the arrival of people from other countries to live in Hispanic lands, it does not exceed a few hundred inhabitants. For years, the effort and continuous work to preserve a traditional touch with cobbled streets and stone buildings has been constant, for this reason Fornalutx has been awarded several times for its good state of conservation.

What to see and do in Fornalutx

The simple fact of walking through its streets will already be a delight for your eyes and for your mind. In fact, it is the way to get to know Fornalutx, stroll quietly and let yourself be carried away to discover corners full of charm. Its narrow cobbled streets and stone architecture will take your breath away. And this is one of the few places on the island where typical Mallorcan mountain houses are preserved.

What will you discover along the way? La Casa de la Villa will undoubtedly catch your eye. It is one of the must-sees of Fornalutx for its seventeenth century defense tower, which is preserved in perfect condition and which welcomes visitors.

You will also discover its charming church, in which Gothic and Baroque features merge. This is because, although its construction dates from the thirteenth century, it was subjected to different reforms that have given it the appearance that we can see today. A beautiful church with a barrel vault and side chapels.

And surely your steps will take you to its charming Plaza de España. It is a very pleasant corner, surrounded by cafes and shops where you can have a good time shopping or tasting some of the typical sweets of the area. The Sierra de Tramontana

It is one of the jewels of the island of Mallorca, and Fornalutx is an excellent starting point to explore it and enjoy all the natural and scenic wealth it contains.

Both on foot and by mountain bike, it is worth enjoying the mountain landscapes. You can do it on your own, there are marked trails, or take advantage of some of the guided tours that are offered.

• Bunyola : it is known for its slopes, there are areas that can reach 1000 meters in height while others do not exceed 100. Observing the beauty of its cliffs is not wasted.

• Alaro : with a spectacular mountainous orography and a modern urban center.
