Choosing a good destination, appealing and with plans for everyone is not always easy. Therefore,  we show you two of the best caravan routes in southern Spain. Perfect for everyone to enjoy.

Andalusia is not only beautiful, but it offers very good services to all travelers, also those traveling by caravan. And very especially in the coastal areas that we are going to visit on these routes.

Route through Cádiz

The first of our caravan routes through southern Spain takes us to Cadiz. According to caravan experts , this trip is much more than recommended. It is very special and appropriate to go with children, since in a few days we can see reflected the European and Muslim cultures, antiquity and modernity.

In addition, the climate is very mild all year round and the beaches of Cadiz are an authentic wonder that will delight everyone, especially surf lovers. An obligatory stop is the Natural Park of the Bay of Cádiz, for its large sandy areas, the pipes and its varied fauna and flora.

We arrive in the city of Cádiz, where you cannot miss the medieval neighborhood of Pópulo. Here you will find beautiful churches, museums and theaters. In addition, if you visit it in February, you can enjoy the festivities of the city in the area, and if it is in Carnival, the celebrations typical of one of the most famous carnivals in the world.

And you cannot leave the city without visiting its castles, something that the little ones will surely love. We refer to the castles of San Sebastián and Santa Catalina, famous for their star-shaped construction.

Other places that you can also visit on this route and that will not disappoint you are:

  • San Fernando Island
  • Puerto Real, known for its lagoons
  • Jerez de la Frontera, where you can enjoy its famous wines or the acts of Carthusian horses from the Royal School of Equestrian Art
  • El Puerto de Santa María, where you must try are mythical fish and shellfish

Route along the Costa del Sol

The second of our caravan routes through southern Spain takes us to Malaga, to the magnificent Costa del Sol. We will start this route in Estepona, where you cannot miss the ruins of Nicio, a beautiful castle dating from the 9th century.

We will also visit Fuengirola (and the castle of Sohail) and Torremolinos and its incredible beaches. We especially recommend La Carihuela and Bajondillo, where you can walk and see their impressive landscapes.

How could it be otherwise, Malaga should be another stop on the route. Especially relevant are the Alcazaba and the Roman theater, the cathedral, the temple of San Juan or the Sanctuary of Victory.

Second part of the route

The next stop on the route is Antequera, a wonderful city both on an artistic and natural level. You cannot miss the impressive Torcal, a magical place where erosion has carved curious shapes in the rocks. You should also visit the Antequera dolmen and the Romeral and La Viera caves.

Through the N-340 we will reach Rincón de la Victoria. There are some impressive cave paintings in the Victoria cave. It is also worth visiting Vélez-Málaga, with its beautiful streets of Muslim origin, or Nerja, one of the most beautiful towns on the Costa del Sol.

This is one of the best routes that you can do with the whole family because of the beauty of the impressive places that you will find. Because of this, many of the aforementioned areas are protected, so it is not allowed to spend the night there. Take this into account and inform you to avoid inconveniences.
