On the other hand, if you prefer to drive there, we recommend starting with Morelia or Pueblo Nuevo San Juan Parangaricutiro and taking one of the following routes to Angahuan, which is the starting point:

• Take highway number 43 or number 15 from Morelia to Uruapan, approximately 110 kilometers away. Later, you will have to change towards highway number 37 towards Paracho and shortly before reaching Capácuaro you can turn right to reach Angahuan.

• Travel from Nuevo San Juan Parangaricutiro which is only 38 kilometers from Uruapan. Thus, you will get to Angahuan much faster and you can more easily find the guides in charge of taking you to the volcano.

Prepare your backpack well
